Winner adidas ROCKSTARS 2012
2nd adidas ROCKSTARS 2011
Ranked 3rd in the 2011 Boulder World Cup
“adidas ROCKSTARS has been different from all the other comps that I’ve ever competed in, but it was awesome and I hope to be back next year. It was really cool, I was glad that tons of people showed up. I didn’t really know what to expect, I don’t think anyone knew what to expect, as it’s the first time this competition has been held, and it was a great turnout. I think everything was perfect. I was nervous from day one since my performance at the World Championship was not the best, but now I’m just excited to be second and redeem myself. The experience has been incredible, being treated like a professional athlete - at least that’s what we’re being called here - and it’s nice to see that our sport is being recognized as one of the top sports out there as well now. I suppose it’s the progression of our sport growing which is great. I love to try new things like this, that’s what makes me evolve as a climber.”

World Champion 2011 Combined (Lead, Speed, Boulder)
“The more excited the competitors are to perform, the better they will perform so I think that tonight combining the sport and the music will be a fun show even though I’ll just have to watch. The event is one of the best I’ve been to; the athletes are really well taken care of and treated amazingly. Here at the athletes lounge we’ve got a doctor, physiotherapists, food, drinks and a relaxed environment that makes it very different to compete, if I compare to other competition formats that I’m used to. This kind of events can definitely help improve the sports because the more fun the competition is, the more people will want to compete, which by time can improve the level of the sport in general. I think the show tonight will motivate both the spectators and the climbers so it should be a lot of fun, I’m really looking forward to it.”

"When I have dreams about perfect competitions it’s very similar to adidas ROCKSTARS; the athletes lounge, all the security, a huge arena, phenomenal competition and organization - as you can imagine I had a great weekend!“

“As I entered adidas ROCKSTARS I didn’t feel any pressure; I didn’t expect to perform at the same level as the other competitors since I’ve only been climbing outdoors lately. To me this is just as important as a World Cup since most of the best climbers in the world are gathered here at this event, I’m totally stoked to be in the final.”

Winner adidas ROCKSTARS Qualification 2011
3rd World Cup Vienna 2011, Blocmaster Champion 2009
“I’m not too disappointed that I didn’t’ make it into the final, because it’s always very hard to get to the finals. In the end all the best climbers are here just like in the World Cup. The athletes lounge is really cool as it’s very relaxing here with all the chairs, the drinks; I just went for a coffee and now I’m back to enjoy a massage with one of the physiotherapists here at the adidas Reload Centre.”

„The athlete lounge has even improved compared to last year and the crowd watching us is bigger, which is so cool. You feel like a real rock star when you’re out there on stage; especially the live music distinguishes adidas ROCKSTARS from any other competition.”
Alexey Rubtsov (RUS)
3rd adidas ROCKSTARS 2011
Boulder World Champion 2009
“This is the best competition I’ve ever been to. It’s very well organized and the athletes are very well taken care of. I think the idea of merging rock climbing and rock music is awesome. I always listen to rock as I’m training in the gym and it’s going to be a totally new experience for me to climb while at the same time a rock group is playing live. The competition is just about perfect, because there are so many details taken care of for us athletes. The athletes lounge, for example, is just amazing and it’s nice to feel how everyone is eager to take really good care of us climbers. The boulders were also very well prepared. Finishing third is a great achievement considering the strong field so I can’t say I’m disappointed, although I have the abilities to perform at a higher level – well maybe next year?”

“The atmosphere here at adidas ROCKSTARS is very friendly and I’m enjoying it a lot. If it continues like this I will be very happy. Hopefully I will get to the super final so that I can be the one to hit the button first. I’m sure it will be awesome with the live music.”
Kilian Fischhuber (AUT)
2nd adidas ROCKSTARS 2011
5-time overall Boulder World Cup winner
“The athletes lounge is really nice with a lot of food and lots to drink and with the adidas Reload Centre offering us different kind of treatments - it’s definitely one of the best isolation zones I’ve been to. The super final format was totally new for us and I think it offered a great battle between Dmitry and me. I’m very happy with my performance despite of being second, the show was great and I had a lot of fun here at adidas ROCKSTARS.”

“I think it will be great fun with the live music making both athletes and spectators going; the crowd getting in the mood for a party and the climbers putting on the show. adidas ROCKSTARS is more relaxed than the World Cup, but still very well organized; I’ve had a chronic elbow injury from all the World Cups and the World Championships the last weeks, and right now I’m really enjoying all the facilities the adidas Reload Centre can offer here at the athletes lounge to recover as soon as possible.”

Anna Stöhr (AUT)
Winner adidas ROCKSTARS 2011
Boulder World Champion 2011, European Champion 2010
“It was an awesome feeling to win, because Alex climbed a lot better than me before hitting the super boulder. However in the end I was the first to hit the buzzer and it felt great to win in front of such an amazing crowd that showed up. Everything has been really well organized and you can feel the organizers have made a great effort. Hopefully other organizers can get inspired by this and help to improve the sport even more.”
Dmitry Sharafutdinov (RUS)
Alex Johnson (USA)
4th place adidas ROCKSTARS
5-time USA National Boulder Champion
“It was a really cool event with really fun boulder problems. They were set by the same people that set the routes in the world cup circuit, so it was definitely a very hard competition and I was happy to just be in the finals. Having a live band was really cool. When I’m climbing I tend to not hear anything as I block everything out, but it’s very cool to have a climbing event coincide with a live concert.”
Anna Gallyamova (RUS)

3rd adidas ROCKSTARS 2011
6th European Championship 2010, 3rd Boulder World Cup Munich 2010
“This is the best result for me this year. Even if it’s not a World Cup most of the best female climbers are here so I’m both surprised and of course very happy having finished third.”
Ignacio T. Gasque (ESP)
Winner GORE-TEX Be a Rockstar Amateur Contest 2011
“I was planning a trip to Austria and Switzerland to do some outdoor climbing when I heard about adidas ROCKSTARS and decided to participate. I’m very happy with my result as I really wanted to make it to the pro competition. I’m also very excited about building my own boulder. I think it’s going to be pretty difficult to get to the semifinal since the level is very high with so many world class athletes and thinking about the final is actually just a dream. However, just by staying in the lounge with the pros and being able to chat to them I will already be learning a lot. The long trip from Spain was definitely worth it, even if I hadn’t won - it’s just such a cool event!”
